7T MRI characterization of human hypothalamic nuclei involved in eating behavioral networks in controls and subjects living with obesity and treated with GLP1 analogs

Context of the study
Integrating the different roles of individual HT nuclei appears to be the missing link in consolidating our understanding of the regulation of feeding behavior networks and how they are modulated by various states, conditions, stimuli, and treatments (Roger et al Front Nutr 2022). Improving spatial resolution and contrast using UHF 7T MRI appears as a promising way to address these challenges (Roger et al. AJCN 2025).
The granted ANR 2026 programme HYPNNO-7 aims to push the boundaries of noninvasive in vivo 7T MRI research by integrating the different roles of individual HT nuclei into feeding behavior networks in normal controls an subject living with obesity and treated with GLP1 analogs. The 7T MRI longitudinal and multicentric protocol includes qT1, rs-fMRI, task fMRI and Diffusion w MRI.
Candidate profile
The candidate with a PhD in Neuroscience, MR physics, biomedical engineering or image processing will participate to the data acquisition (with MR technologists) and she/he will be in charge of the postprocessing and the valorisation of the data.
Demonstrated experience in high resolution Diffusion MRI processing is required, and a previous experience in fMRI and/or morphometry would be appreciated.
Research Team
The candidate will work at CRMBM in Marseille in the CNS team (50 members) under the supervision of Pr. Jean-Philippe Ranjeva (head of the CNS team and PI of HYPNNO7) in collaboration with the 7T MRI team of Lille.
Position
Available position from October 2026. Duration: 18 months.
Salary: Post-doctoral AMU contract with salary depending on experience.
